Mark Watson's (slightly ridiculous) MP3 Challenge

Regular readers will know about my efforts so far in this iPod saga - yes, I'm talking about the ridiculous nine hour round trip I made to Fort William so a boy could put a song on a memory stick. Well now my part done, I am no longer in possession of the iPod! After some email to-ing and fro-ing I met up with Simon (a fellow Watsonian and volunteer in the iPod chain) yesterday in a pub in Covent Garden for the handover.

It had turned out that three of the possible London links were people that I knew anyway and it would have been very easy to pass the iPod to one of them...but seeing as I had already made a nine hour round trip to see Seamus because it was 'in the spirit of the thing' that seemed a bit of a cop out. So Simon, being the most eager and crucially, available, of the possible linkees it was him that I met. Simone (who I already know) was able to join us too which was great and allowed us to get another track on the memory stick.

Meeting a random person off the internet can always be a little bit daunting (although I'm getting pretty good at it these days!) but Simon turned out to be a lovely chap - and I hadn't realised but he's the guy who is running the length of the Central Line for his TYSIC and in fact was off to run a section that afternoon. (See his blog http://tuberunner.blogspot.com for more info).

So there we have it. The iPod package is now Simon's responsibility and he is already making in roads into setting up the next link so good on him!

I've done lots of other things in the last couple of days including seeing Mr Watson himself at his Edinburgh preview, meeting even more lovely people previously only know from the world of Twitter and being one of the few people to attend all three of Michael Legge and Andrew Collins' work in progress shows. All of that was a lot of fun and I shall blog about it in more detail later, but for now I'll leave you with these photos of the handover.

  1. I wondered where that mp3 player had got to! Glad to see it hasn't been stolen/broken/destroyed by magnets yet. :-)
